How to be Anonymous? Tails OS with Virt-Manager

Imagine that you are walking alone in a really dangerous ghetto in the midnight. Yeah that’s a sort of the internet !

Governments, advertisement companies, data companies are watching us. Bad people want to encrypt our files to pay them some crypto money or they want to mine in our hardware. Or, they want to make our devices as zombie to serve them. Or, some people want to capture our home cameras to watch and record us, play with home sensors or any number of reasons to be obsessed with us.

” Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused

we can not “walk” on the internet or we can not do anything if we don’t accept the cookies policy, or not to use services that they track us. Just consider, how many companies are famous with “we don’t track you, we don’t log you” ? Just realize, even many VPN servers are logging their users.

We don’t need to click every link we saw, we don’t need to open automatically all PDFs. Using full screen browser gives information about screen resolution, browser name and operating system info can be obtained from links etc… Many many information can be easily obtain with simple things. Social engineering is also an another method for bad people/hackers.

Nothing can secure us 100%. If we want to be anonymous, we need to change our computer using habits.

Installation

  • Installing Tails with Virtual Machine Manager. If it is not installed you can install by using following code.
$ sudo apt install qemu-kvm libvirt-clients libvirt-daemon-system bridge-utils virt-manager ovmf
  • Download for virtual machines (ISO Image) below link.

I like to store my ISO files in a folder located in home but wherever you want to locate, you can locate there. Open The Virtual Machine Manager and Find ISO.

Next, Disk allocation settings will show up. But, I will arrange the VM as Live USB. So, there will be any disk space allocated. Click Forward…
